‘Benefits’ in Purchasing

decision purchasing benefitsThe Marketing and Advertising Industry has spent their time and money to understand how the consumers decide which products that they would buy. They found that people make these decision based on their reasons, what so-called 'benefits'. They have been using these 'benefits' since they were 8 years old. 

When I heard about this, I was like "Wow!! Really?!?"

Here is the list of the 'benefits':

  1. Convenience
  2. Recreation
  3. Privacy
  4. Prestige
  5. Entertainment
  6. Health
  7. Economy
  8. Value
  9. Safety
  10. Security
  11. Romance
  12. Comfort
  13. Aesthetics
  14. Self-Actualization 

So, we all have been using some of these categories (the 'benefits' that are more appealing to us) to make decision on what to buy or what to choose for ourselves.  

Visualize a house or a car or anything that you would like to buy and find out the reason why you want to buy that specific item. Point out which three characteristics of 'benefits' that most appealing to you. This is fun!
